The combination of black metal and hardcore elements seems now to become the latest trend, with several interesting proposals out in recent years including the shields we have bands like the French or even Celeste better our own The Secret, and the debut of the Hierophant fits exactly on the coordinates of style.
The quintet of the province of Ravenna is newly formed, having faces on the scene only in 2009 but has now shown particularly active in the live band playing in support of even the likes of Poison The Well .
The group then focused primarily on writing new material to get to record their debut self-titled album the subject of this review. The sound of the Hierophant
is violent, dark and unhealthy, well made from work during production and in perfect synthesis of old school ( Imtegrity just to make a name, and just happens to appear as guest David Hellion) and the new trend post-hardcore, but what impresses beyond clear references to this or that band, is the ability to write simple pieces but not trivial direct impact but absolutely steeped in character and pathos.
The album is framed by an intro and an outro very appropriate, is also quite varied, from the fast pace episiodi ( I Am The , Lambgoat , We Know Love ) to more rhythmic and particularly sulfur ( As Kalki , Mother Tiamat, Winters 1000), although with Abissus Abissum Invocatio my opinion that the best results are achieved by blending admirably and synthesizing the two approaches.
In conclusion, we can only find complessivamemte managed this work that, while certainly a part does not shine for originality, and incisiveness of the other character denotes no small feat for a debut and especially for a band born from such a short time. Next case.
