Plot
the evening in which the fifteen-Clary and his best friend Simon decided to go to Pandemonium, the place most transgressive of New York, they know that pass a particular night but certainly not up to this point. The two attend a brutal murder by a group of guys all tattooed and heavily armed. That evening, Clary, without knowing it, he saw for the first time Shadowhunters, warriors, invisible to most people, who fight to rid the Earth by demons. In less than twenty-four hours from that meeting his life changes radically. Her mother disappears, she is attacked by a demon and his fate seems inevitably intertwined with that of the young warriors. For Clary began a headlong quest, an adventure from the dark colors that will force him to question his friendship with Simon, but she will know love.
Shadowhunters, City of Bones, is the debut novel in the saga of The Mortal Instruments, made up of five books, three of which have already been published in Italy.
My review
The story told in this book of urban fantasy genre, revolves around the figure of Clary, fifteen New York who studies, argues with her mother, goes out with his friend Simon, he loves draw and read, in short, is a normal modern girl grappling with life as a teenager.
The situation becomes more complicated when, in a lot of local transgressive, Clary is witness to something should not be able to see at all, in fact witnessing a murder, but not a normal person but rather has witnessed the killing of a demon and just at this point will be revealed the existence of different world, close to his world of "worldly", which is populated by demons, vampires and witches and even the guardians of the shadow (Shadowhunters).
The Invisible World, so named precisely because it is not visible from the mundane, it's like our world, crossed by disputes, conflicts and is controlled in a manner very severe by the Council which has faced some sixteen years before the events narrated, the warrior that I would call extremists, led by Valentine scattering and thwarting their plans that will have a central role in history.
Just young Shadowhunters (Jace, Alec, and Isabelle), which in New York, have a duty to prevent the demons of committing crimes against humans, will inevitably be involved in the misfortunes of the protagonist, who will begin to understand many things its past and will make discoveries that will leave your family totally amazed.
Among Shadowhunters, who is aligned more closely at Clary, Jace will be, beautiful little warrior modest, ironic, sarcastic and bitter tragedy from the past show that in addition to his rudeness, but also a fragile and sensitive part, this closeness, it will result in Simon, Clary's childhood friend, true and proper motions of jealousy and hatred.
Personally, I approached this book with a certain fear, despite all the very positive reviews I read mostly on Anobii, I was afraid of having to read the usual old story of the vampire beautiful, strong, silly girl in love with the turn, the story I was frankly annoyed (not get me wrong, I loved Twilight and the early novels of the mold, but now there are too many around, and few of them are readable, of course, tastes are:)).
beginning of reading this book, I breathed a sigh of relief, no gooders vampiriale (I know it is a word that does not exist but there is!), I found the story dynamic, original with the increasing presence of a thread of suspense that keeps the reader in suspense.
These days, it was a little 'test anxiety, a little' that practically laughed alone in my room while I read the book, but my mother began to believe it is definitely out of his mind.
Well, the irony is always present in the dialogues, there are a lot of really funny jokes and allusions and the players really know their stuff.
This first book is really worth much and the way it ends, unfortunately I have guessed at some point, so it leaves you without words, wanting to know what would happen next.
can read the first two novels later and wait anxiously for the publication in the last two. It is a long time since I do not read a book urban fantasy that has left me excited.
5 stars. Highly recommended.
